Jean Schaffner is the partner in charge of the tax department of Allen & Overy Luxembourg. He advises various international investment banks on tax structured finance schemes (including securitisations) and has extensive experience in advising institutional investors and private equity funds in cross-border investments all over Europe. He has significant expertise in advising clients on tax aspects for Luxembourg investments and in relation to the structuring of international acquisitions via Luxembourg regulated and non-regulated vehicles. He is a member of the IFA and IBA.
Jean is admitted to the Luxembourg and Paris bars. He was a lecturer on international tax law at the Institut Supérieur du Commerce Paris (France 1994) and at the University of Valenciennes (France 2002-2004) and taught corporate tax law at the University of Luxembourg between 2003 and 2006. Jean is the author of Droit Fiscal International (Promoculture 2005), and is the Luxembourg correspondent for European Taxation (International Bureau of Fiscal documentation) and co-author of Dossiers Internationaux Francis Lefebvre (Editions Francis Lefebvre 2009, 8th edition). He is a member of the IFA and IBA.
